Are you starting to work with automation and are you feeling lost? This article will help you conquer your space

Until early 2017, I knew very little about Marketing Automation. To me, it was just another term in the alphabet soup of the current marketing universe.

This is perhaps the feeling many people have when they start working with tools like Salesforce, Watson – IBM or the Brazilian RD Station. Something that was a theoretical and distant concept becomes a real challenge to be overcome right now.

I had to learn a lot – and learn quickly! – about everything that revolves around the universe of these tools that are here to stay.

To be very specific: the scope of work for all the clients ukraine whatsapp data I needed to deliver Communication Planning to involved Marketing Automation. From small and medium-sized companies to huge multinationals.

With luck and effort, I learned a few things here and there that might be useful to anyone who has just landed in this universe.

Here, I will present you with 10 tips, best practices and what to keep an eye on when starting out with Marketing Automation:

1. Start with strategy

As with all initiatives in this area, the implementation of Marketing Automation must follow a strategy. If you don’t have a well-defined strategy, don’t even think about automating anything, or you’ll waste money. Try to answer these essential questions:

What am I trying to achieve with Marketing Automation?

What target do I want to reach?

How will I know if the initiative was successful?

As much as Marketing Automation is a cutting-edge technology, the strategy is always the most important part and the tool needs to follow it.

2. Have a solid database

All the experts who helped me understand this universe more deeply insist that the quality of the data in your database is fundamental to the success of the campaign.

This doesn’t mean you should be afraid to start a project because you’re still trying to understand some inconsistent or very specific data that your database may have. On the contrary: the campaign strategy should contemplate the acquisition of more reliable data, but also take advantage of the data that your database already has in an intelligent way.

3. Explain the project well

Implementing Marketing Automation campaigns requires more budget than the software contract used. This is because the software alone is not capable of doing anything.

In addition to the strategy and creation of materials to nurture leads, we need to remember that the steps of integration, implementation and maintenance of the tool are also necessary.

Automation is not a simple project and, therefore, it is important to show all the stages of the process and the expected costs for each of them.

4. Prove it works as quickly as you can

There are still many people who don't believe in digital marketing. In addition to them, there are those who are reluctant to adopt new tools – which is very common and understandable, in my opinion.

It’s up to us, as marketers, to clarify all doubts and prove by A + B that the campaign works. As soon as you can show the ROI in reports, show it. You only have to gain from more relaxed and satisfied customers.
