How To Promote Your New Release On A $0 Budget

Post by aminaas1575 »

Let’s face it… there are very few things you can do on a $0 budget and still come out ahead. And in many ways, marketing is included in that. You can’t expect to run digital ads on just your hopes and dreams, and you can’t buy merch to sell at your next gig on just your talent and impeccable vibes. However, that’s not the kind of marketing we’re talking about today. Instead of talking about ads and sales, numbers and figures, we’re going to talk about how to get creative and make a big impact when your budget is $0. Here’s the rundown…

How To Promote Your New Release On A $0 Budget
Go out on the street
That's right, let's go old school with a grassroots movement that is incredibly effective (and one I suggest you do even if you have a ton of money to invest in your marketing). There are a number of ways to do this. From making flyers at local coffee shops, record stores, and phone surveys, to the more outgoing (and effective) method of phone numbers in the philippines chatting face to face with potential fans. It usually goes something like this:

Find a concert by a well-known band with whom you have a similar sound.
Go to the concert early to see the people queuing to get in.

Approach them and start a conversation about the band they’re going to see. For example: “Hey, do you fancy seeing Panic! At the Disco? Great. What’s your favourite song? Oh yeah, mine is XYZ.”
Casually mention your similarity to the artist and give them the chance to stream your music through your phone and the headphones you brought. (“Well, we kind of sound like Panic, we’re actually about to release a new record, would you like to listen to some?”).
If they like it, ask them if they want to join your mailing list and be the first to hear the new album.
Leave them a sticker or a pin .
Social mode
Love it or hate it, social media is one of the best ways to engage with fans and market your music for zero dollars. (Even better if you have a mailing list you actively target.)

One of the best ways to get your name and message out there without shelling out thousands of dollars is to find ways to be engaging, interesting, and foster a community that exists both online and off. And even when you have thousands of dollars to spend in the future, social media will still play a vital role. (Make sure to focus on posting engaging content on Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and Facebook. Use popular and niche hashtags to increase visibility and reach a wider audience. Of course, don’t forget about viral challenges or trends, especially on TikTok, to get more eyes on your launch.
