There are two options for saving a route in Google Maps , in the Places search and the Saved Routes screen. However, the steps vary slightly between Android and iPhone devices, according to information found on Google's support website.

Open the Google Maps app on your mobile device.
Locate the origin and destination you plan to visit (For example: Buckingham Palace)
Select the option: Directions or How to get there .
Define a means of transport : Car, bus, motorcycle, bicycle, on foot.
When the results appear, choose the route you prefer.
At the bottom, tap the Save option , and that's it!
*From your saved routes you can also search for a new route and use the Save option .
