To simplify work with libraries, a family manager was additionally developed, helping to quickly find the necessary elements by categories and keywords, insert blocks into drawings with one click and update them when company standards change.
The Family Manager has two levels of access: a user level for designers who use ready-made blocks in their work, and an administrative level for BIM coordinators who monitor the relevance of libraries and make changes.
Introduction of dynamic statements and specifications
Preparing statements and specifications is one of the most labor-intensive stages of design. Using special plugins allows you to automatically generate statements and specifications for documentation, which speeds up the process of preparing drawings and minimizes errors.
The design institute created a plugin that includes three main functions for performing such tasks:
Creating statements . When you click the corresponding button, a window opens where you can select specific statements, queues and stages, as well as set the design parameters. The plugin supports the creation of various types of documents: a statement of landscaping, sidewalks and paths, coatings, small architectural forms, as well as a table of structural units of coatings
Updating statements . Allows you to update data in already created statements when the model changes.
Clearing statements . Completely clears the drawing from all elements created by the plugin.
Vertical planning and automation of geoplastics
One of the most interesting and challenging aspects of working in Civil 3D is vertical planning. One of its varieties, geoplastics, or the creation of artificial hills, requires high precision and careful modeling. At the same time, due to the complexity of forms and smooth lines, traditional methods often lead to errors.
To simplify this process, a script was developed that automatically creates the geometry of the hills and adds it to the surface. It takes into account the features of the shape, ensuring the correct construction of contours and convex surfaces.
3D modeling and creation of BIM models of coatings
One of the main goals of automation is to create a detailed BIM model of the general plan coverings. To achieve this, S.23 has developed a process flow that is performed with one click of a button and allows for obtaining updated 3D models of coverings without any additional actions. It includes four stages:
Create a wireframe based on a surface and hatches from the library
Generation of coating layers according to specified thicknesses and parameters
Extruding layers to create a three-dimensional coating
Automatic assignment of parameters to each layer to form a complete BIM model
