Google TV has announced it will roll out a “News Brief” experimental feature powered by Gemini to provide overviews of current top stories from trusted news sources in the United States.

The experiment launched days after Google signed a partnership deal with the Associated Press and is currently only available to some Google TV users.

Google announced the update, saying the new feature will provide viewers with news clips from YouTube and curated news.

News Briefs will update throughout the day, showing top germany mobile numbers list stories from reliable sources, such as the Associated Press, which now provides real-time news to Google’s Gemini AI Chatbot.

Google said the purpose is to provide users with “concise, narrated overviews and related videos of top news stories” and is an addition to its “For You” page.

Google announced the update on its Google TV Help page:

News briefs feature
Google’s new “News Briefs” feature on Google TV aims to collect and display the day’s top news stories as and when they happen, using its Gemini models to provide topic summaries and video sources from YouTube.

The experiment fits neatly alongside the tech giant’s recent collaboration with the Associated Press to provide real-time news to its Gemini AI Chatbot and signals Google’s intent to become a leading source of global news reports for its billions of users.

Google explains on its support page:

“Using Gemini models and human evaluation, News Briefs presents overviews of the top news stories and surface-related YouTube videos from trusted news sources so you can learn more. Briefs are updated with top stories throughout the day, so you can easily keep up with the latest news.”
