SEO Tip 4) Title and Meta Description

Post by Mitu100@ »

Especially if you run your own blog, it is worth linking articles to each other. On the one hand, this creates the website structure mentioned above, and on the other hand, you offer your visitors additional, easily accessible information and keep them on your site longer. I will go into more detail about how this is also relevant for your ranking in tip 5).

The user experience on your website is also relevant for the ranking. In recent years, Google has been increasingly relying on user signals when evaluating its results - how long the user was on the website and did they click on a link there. This means that the more user-friendly you make your website, the more likely the resulting user signals will lead to a better ranking on Google. Both the title and the meta description should contain the relevant keywords and arouse the curiosity of the searcher. It is also helpful for most landing pages to include your own brand name in the title and description.

Opinions differ as to how long the meta description can be before Google cuts it off. Google does not evaluate the absolute number of characters, but the pixel width of the entire text. However, with a meta description of up to 150 characters you are on the safe side. For the title you can base your search on around 60 characters. However, it should be noted that this only has a limited influence on how Google ultimately displays your links. The search engine often sticks to the meta description you have written. However, sometimes Google also uses an excerpt from your text in which the keyword you are looking for appears and which the search engine classifies as more relevant at that moment.

Titles and meta descriptions are important because they influence the ranking through the built-in keywords. Interesting-sounding titles and meta descriptions also encourage more clicks - but more on that in the next tip.
