Even the large area of collaboration, in which many companies are lagging behind simply because, for example, certain platforms are not compatible with the compliance rules from the last millennium, is only the tip of the iceberg in a much more complex problem. But how can this problem be made tangible? How can it be prepared for decision-makers in such a way that concrete action is taken because the relevance of the whole is understood? And why is corporate communications the ideal interface in the company to tackle the matter holistically again, but on a manageable scale and in a process that is manageable for those involved?

"Digitization, "digital transformation", "Industry 4.0", "digital collaboration", "New Work", "Machine Learning" (...): There are countless publications for each individual area and also many valuable starting points. However, an overabundance bc data of information tends to cause people to simply switch off and withdraw. Very few people make the effort to go deeper and select information for themselves. This often happens not because of a lack of good will, but simply because of a lack of time, and often because of a feeling not only of being overloaded but of being overwhelmed. After all, one's own field of expertise, which often concerns a completely different area, already demands a lot of attention.

How is an individual supposed to judge, given the short amount of time, which information is worth a closer look at - and which can be ignored? Assessing the truthfulness of the statements and the reliability of forecasts is a completely different matter.

In order to generate a change in thinking and a desire for change, one cannot avoid pointing out the dangers of remaining in the status quo and what can be improved by the new. People are only willing to make changes if they expect a benefit or reward from it or if the change can avoid a disadvantage or pain.

Very often, however, people do not make a change because they prefer the well-known hell to the unknown heaven. In other words, every change creates fear, no matter how great the positive promises it brings. In addition, too great a threat is more likely to cause paralysis and even agony, because it makes those involved feel that they are powerless anyway.
