A blog can be compared very well to a startup.

You need an idea, a unique selling point and a market.

Experience shows that most startups fail within the first two years.

So if you have been blogging for more than 2 years: congratulations. You have already overcome the most difficult time.

But our goal is not just survival. We want to blog successfully. But how long will it take until the breakthrough comes?

What does this look like for startups?

Typically, startups need about 7 years to become profitable.

7 whole years!

Do you have enough stamina to blog for seven years without experiencing a breakthrough?

Admittedly, it didn't take me that long - because I had a good mentor. My "breakthrough" came after about two years.

But his rise was anything but rapid.

He had been blogging for almost seven years without a b reakthrough.

The important thing is that he didn't stop. He trusted the process. He loved the process.

Many of us believe that success is always linear. That is, it goes uphill slowly but surely.

Unfortunately, that is not the case. Success often looks more like a hockey stick: first it goes sideways for years and then the curve suddenly shoots upwards.
