The challenge with managing IoT devices is understanding what you can do with them, says Shah Anand, vice president of product strategy at SOTI. “Some devices have limited functionality,” he says, pointing to devices that don’t have screens and aren’t essential.

every device on the network, no matter how small or insignificant. It means running “diagnostics, updating firmware, getting insights and analytics on all the devices so you can update them,” Anand continued.

"When we deal with edge devices of various kinds, the hungary whatsapp data of data they generate poses a scalability problem. So we are building tools that can autonomously process all the data at the edge in minutes and provide real insights into the enterprise as a whole or the business environment," he said.

In the IoT world, it is important to have the ability to secure, manage, monitor devices at the edge and automate responses to their data.

Peripheral Monitoring
One challenge is monitoring more and more different types of devices, increasing the number of network endpoints. “How do I make sure each one is doing what it’s supposed to do?” Dawson asks.

In large multinational companies, many people cannot be available 24 hours a day. That’s why it’s important to build analytics into every device and manage it from a single platform or hub. Analytics can monitor how a device interacts with the network, how much battery power it has, what data is coming from that device, and more.

Automatic response in the periphery
AI algorithms can be applied to edge devices and the data they generate, allowing decision support tools to be created and automatically respond to what’s happening on the network. “These recovery capabilities will help the system heal itself if there’s a problem,” Dawson said.
