While many people immediately hit the panic button during every Google update in the first few days, experienced SEOs know to keep a cool head and wait and see. According to recent findings, also confirmed by Pedro Dias (tweet), the Google algorithm update on August 1, 2018, contrary to popular belief, did not specifically target a specific industry.

Don't panic when the medic arrives
Within just a few days, the term "Medic" for the Google Core bulgaria cell phone number list Update of August 1st has become widespread in the SEO world. Barry Schwartz, one of the most well-known figures in the American SEO scene, gave the latest Core Algorithm Update his name – and everyone else jumped on the bandwagon. Sounds pretty dramatic, doesn't it? The industry relevance of the update's supposed goals was thus irrevocably established. But we shouldn't act too hastily.

Precisely because SEO, unlike SEA, focuses on building sustainable online marketing success, it's important not to view Google updates as the primary dictator of SEO strategy. Of course, this doesn't mean that Google Core Updates should be ignored. After all, the Google Panda and Penguin updates have also changed the SEO world in the long term. However, since the introduction of RankBrain (Google's artificial intelligence in the algorithm), Google has been releasing major updates with massive SEO impact much less frequently since last year.
