How domain name system works

If a website is hosted in New York and a user types in the domain from Tokyo, the request will take longer to resolve due to the distance between DNS servers.

This is a negligible performance sacrifice for smaller websites. However, slow DNS resolution is a noticeable performance issue for larger, more popular websites like WPBeginner.

Previously, we used Sucuri with Constellix to improve performance. Constellix is a DNS server company with servers all over the world to ensure faster DNS resolution regardless of the user's geographic location.

Moving to Cloudflare gave us centralized control of DNS and the ability to better control DNS permissions.

Additionally, it gives us a performance boost thanks to Cloudflare's larger DNS server network, routing rules, and short TTLs.

This means that when someone types WPBeginner.com into their browser, DNS resolution happens much spain telemarketing data faster because the response is closer to their location.

4. Uptime reliability
This is one of the main reasons why we switched from Sucuri to Cloudflare. We noticed that Sucuri occasionally had regional outages, especially in Europe.

This would require our DevOps team to route European traffic away from Sucuri and toward our own servers, which is not ideal from either a security or performance perspective.

Imagine a service disruption occurs when our website is subjected to a DDoS attack. This could potentially degrade the performance of our website for users in other regions as well.
