There is nothing more satisfying than going to the supermarket or the store of your choice and finding the item you need. But have you ever wondered how that product got to the point of sale? It is possible thanks to the coordination of various actors who work together to ensure that the products reach the hands of the final consumer.

The supply chain therefore refers to all the processes or steps required for a product to reach the end customer , from the acquisition of raw materials, manufacturing, storage, to distribution and marketing.

For the supply chain to be effective, companies need to plan each stage of the process and establish the participation of different components that allow meeting cost, quality and delivery time objectives.


Suppliers : They supply the materials or raw materials to the manufacturer
Manufacturers : These are responsible for greece phone data transforming these materials or raw materials into finished products.
Distributors : they are part of the distribution channel and are responsible for delivering the product to the final consumer. Distributors can be wholesalers or retailers.
Transporters : transport finished products, raw materials and supplies.
Customers : are the final consumers who buy or use the products.
Distribution models
It refers to the type of infrastructure that the company uses for the physical transfer of goods and products from an origin to their final destination. Companies can choose more than one distribution model depending on different factors, such as the type of product they transport and the geographic location of their customers and suppliers.

Main distribution models:

Centralized : consists of concentrating the products in a single point from where they are distributed.
Decentralized : has a distribution network with warehouses or cellars that are closer to end customers.
Consolidation : This model is based on consolidating or grouping merchandise from different suppliers to make shipments to different customers.
Cross Docking : products received at a platform or distribution centre are not stored, but rather prepared for their next shipment. Key features:
The merchandise is usually not kept in the centre or warehouse for more than 24 hours.
Continuous flow of goods.
The received products are sent to the final destination or taken to the picking or order preparation area.
Constant exchange of information between suppliers, distribution centers and customers.
