As we can see in the image, investment in Facebook and Instagram ads, mainly in the North American area, increased during 2020. Likewise, it remained relatively stable in most markets until entering 2021. Here we find a peak in all markets, attesting to the aforementioned growth within this sector. The change and increase in advertising expenses are more evident when comparing the second quarter of 2020 with its counterpart in 2021, as it presents a positive variation of 49.9%.

The report explains that Facebook, which holds a large share of the digital advertising market, also showed significant growth in this area. Thus, the median weekly investment of Facebook advertising accounts has continued to grow, currently standing at around 900 dollars, approximately 766 euros. This is just from individual advertising accounts.

As we saw earlier, advertising investment on Facebook and belgium business email database Instagram has had significant fluctuations during the year between the months of April to June in 2020, compared to the same period this year. However, an annual growth of at least 40% remains evident in most of the sectors analyzed, although some sectors show a more marked growth, such as Fashion with +95.5%, Alcohol +88.4%, Beauty +44.1% and e-commerce with +41.4%. Even so, the most abrupt change was presented by the Tourism sector, which after a forced closure in much of 2020, resumed its activities in 2021, reaching a +104.1% year-on-year growth.

As we can see in the following graph, advertising investment reached its peak in the last quarter of 2020, which we can surely relate to end-of-year campaigns such as Black Friday and Christmas , in addition to a marked growth in this specific sector. Growth that was driven by the strong demand for new offers and digital shopping solutions.
