World of Tanks and Project Armata are games of the same genre, massive multiplayer action simulators in real time, in which the player is offered to control tanks and other military equipment. In addition, both projects work on the free-to-play model - registration in them is free, the user starts paying later to upgrade their gaming capabilities.
The first high-profile conflict between Wargaming and Mail.Ru Group occurred in February 2014, even before the announcement of Armata. Then, during an extraordinary session of the State Duma dedicated to protecting children from the impact of violent video games, Mikhail Kochergin, Marketing Director of Games Operation Division of Mail.Ru Group, said that World of Tanks raises "a lot of questions. That is, people in fascist tanks attack and shoot at Russian tanks." The day after the session, Kochergin was fired from Mail.Ru, and he himself said that the quote was taken out of context.
But the further development of the conflict can no longer be attributed to a misinterpretation of words. Thus, in January 2016, Project Armata launched a promotional campaign, during which anyone who downloaded the game and played at least one match with Tier 6 vehicles could receive in-game currency in World of Tanks as a gift.
At first, Wargaming responded peacefully with a picture of the cartoon character Dasha the Explorer offering to “help the guys find players.” But a month later, in February, it struck back.
The company launched its own promotion, offering players to change their email to a more secure one and receive in-game bonuses for it. Mail.ru email boxes were mentioned in the promotion text as "unsafe", but if list of azerbaijan cell phone numbers the player's new email was on this service, he still received bonuses. Mail.Ru Group called the promotion "banal revenge".

"I am very sorry that the guys from WG failed to have a sense of tact and taste, in my personal opinion - the spread of slander is unacceptable even as revenge. We at Mail.ru pay great attention to security. If someone can suddenly find a hole or even a small hole in it, then welcome to our BugsBounty program"
