SEO Mistake #10: Poor Responsive Design

Post by tasmih1234 »

For Google, the mobile version of a website is now more important than the desktop version. This mobile-first approach stems from user behavior in recent years. The number of searches on mobile devices has been growing steadily for years. Google has therefore increasingly focused on these. Unfortunately, many companies have so far only inadequately optimized their websites for mobile use or have not optimized them at all.
What is responsive design?
In this context, responsive web design means nothing other than a graphical and technical approach to creating websites that can be adapted to the respective device of a user. The graphic structure of a website is designed in such a way that it can be displayed in different forms, depending on whether a user accesses it from a smartphone, a tablet or a PC.
There are numerous differences, particularly in the use of touchscreens and mouse pointers. For example, swiping functions must be used for mobile devices, while the desktop version of a website can integrate senegal mobile numbers list elements that can be hovered over with the mouse pointer.
There are also differences in the size of the individual elements. Menu bars on a desktop website are usually much larger. In mobile versions, they have to be made smaller and more clearly laid out. Collapsible elements are often used here, which can then be expanded when needed, allowing navigation on the page. The hamburger menu is a common example of such a collapsible element.
Technical implementation of responsive design
In contrast to adaptive design, responsive design creates a single website that then automatically adapts to the corresponding output device. This requires certain technical elements that must be integrated into the pages.
When users access the page, the CSS code determines the layout of the page. This is rendered and displayed according to the screen size. The rules defined in the stylesheet are only taken into account by the browser if the previously defined conditions are met.
Poor responsive design
An SEO mistake that is observed again and again is responsive design, or rather its absence. Many website operators have not adapted their pages to mobile devices at all. Mobile use of websites in Germany now accounts for more than 80% of all interactions on the Internet. (see statista )
But a whole range of different mistakes can also be made when designing responsive websites. We have listed some of the most common misunderstandings.
