The founder of the clothing brand Hanifa , Anif Arnold Mwuemba, had planned to participate in New York Fashion Week this year. But due to the coronavirus pandemic, the designer changed her plans. In May, she held a virtual show of her new collection on Instagram broadcast.

The new collection is called Pink Label Congo. Arnold Mwuemba says each outfit symbolizes Congo, the country she was born in. For example, one dress is made in the colors of the country's flag - red, blue and yellow.

Arnold Mwuemba relied on technology: she created 3D models to bulgaria number data show the collection. The items appeared on a black background and paraded down a virtual catwalk - as if they were worn by invisible models.

“impressive” and “a little creepy.” Journalists compared it to a ghost parade. At the same time, Fast Company noted that during the fashion show there was nothing distracting from the outfits, so it was easier to examine every detail of the clothes.

Arnold Mwuemba admits that she had to work on the details to make all the outfits look real. The idea of holding a show with digital models came to her even before the coronavirus pandemic. She was interested in 3D animation in film, and the designer thought about how to apply the technology to her work.

The virtual fashion show was a success. Thanks to the show, Arnold Mvuemba drew attention to the collection and collected pre-orders. According to her, despite the crisis, this year the Hanifa brand will receive more revenue than in the past.

Anifa Arnold Mwuemba is 29 years old. She never went to fashion school or interned with famous fashion designers. The future designer's family moved from Congo to the United States when she was three years old. Arnold Mwuemba's parents wanted her to get a stable profession - a doctor or a lawyer. She entered university to get a business degree, but at the same time she learned to sew. One day she didn't have money to buy an evening dress, so she sewed it herself. When her friends saw the dress, they asked her to sew something for them too. That's how the Hanifa brand was born.

All Hanifa label outfits are inexpensive: from $50 to $499. However, they are worn by celebrities - for example, singers Kelly Rowland and Lizzo. Arnold Mwuemba uses social networks to promote, where he actively communicates with potential buyers.
