6. Blog Function
One of Magento’s biggest weaknesses from an SEO perspective is that the platform does not include blogging functionality out of the box. While the category and product pages of an e-commerce site are generally the most important from a revenue perspective, blogging is still very important for e-commerce sites.
In recent years, we expect that category or product page rankings will definitely shift towards ranking more informative content for keywords. We can see that Google is increasingly choosing to rank content such as guides, affiliate sites, or “how-to” content above product and category pages. This means that having no place for informational content may limit the SEO success of your Magento store.
For example, let’s say we opened a store that sold ghana mobile database cameras that are great for taking selfies. Of course, we might want to create a page that ranks for the term “selfie camera.” However, when we checked the SERPs, some of the top-ranking results were informational content.
In the screenshot below, you can see how ShotKit 2 and B&H 3 actually rank higher than Best Buy and Amazon for the “best selfie camera” query via their “best selfie camera” page:
When we look at the B&H page, we can see how they’ve set up a blog post to rank the best selfie cameras they offer. They then intelligently link to products in their store. Instead of trying to force a category or rank a product page, they’re able to use this list-style blog post to increase visibility for important queries:
