What is a potential customer?

Post by surovy117 »

If a potential customer hands over a business card, you've just gained a head start.

But what does this process look like from a digital marketing perspective?

You can still collect phone numbers, especially if you run a business with a highly motivated sales team . However, most marketers these days are more interested in collecting email addresses.

Email is easier than a phone call. There’s no need for either party to think quickly, and you can automate your marketing processes to reduce manual work.

Let’s say a potential customer finds your website through a Google search. They read the page and find themselves ios database interested in your copy. Then they see a sign-up option , like the top bar.

The potential customer wants your free tips and advice, so they enter their email address and click “I want in!” Now you have a lead.

It sounds simple, but you’re competing with a lot of other people in your niche for email addresses. Plus, getting leads is just the beginning.

Once you have a leash, you need to take care of it.

Lead nurturing is the process of helping potential customers make purchasing decisions. Ultimately, you want those potential customers to choose your products or services over someone else's.

Lead nurturing is giving your prospects what they want, need, or expect – and sometimes all three. You also need to time your messaging properly so you don’t rush the sale .

Think about your own consumption. How do you make purchasing decisions?

It probably depends on what you're looking to buy. The more expensive or complex the product, the more time you'll spend evaluating your options.

You can visit websites to see who offers the type of product you need. You can then read online reviews, ask your friends and family for recommendations, check social media, and visit individual product sales pages.

Some purchasing decisions start even earlier. If you don't know anything about a product, you need to first find out what it does. You might want to read comparisons of different products in the space.

During this time, companies will try to get your contact information and nurture you as a potential customer. You will do the same with your potential customers.
