What is a company's onboarding plan?
In case you haven't already guessed, however, let's establish a basic definition from which to go deeper. This plan refers to an official document containing all the relevant information about a company and the position that the new employee will occupy , in addition to the initial training plan.

The aim of this plan is to make the process of adaptation to a new position as easy as possible for the newly arrived employee. The idea is that the new employee not only feels welcomed and informed, but also that the company is working hard to motivate him in his tasks.

In short, we can say that the objectives of any reception plan must be the following…

Improve new employee engagement .
Help the worker to easily identify his or her objectives and the results expected of him or her.
Promote positive habits among employees.

As you have probably already guessed, each plan depends on the company for which it has been created. And, therefore, there are as many welcome plans as there are companies in the world . Of course, they all have points in common. And an example would be the business information that a welcome plan must have no matter what…

Document containing crucial information about the company : foundation, origin, evolution and even the current situation.
Document detailing the company's culture , placing special emphasis on the company's mission, vision and values.
Document containing all company policies , both internally and externally.
To all this, which would be the specific company information, we must add the information relating to the employee and his new position.

Information about the objectives of your work and the results expected from it.
Information on prevention and occupational safety policies .
Internal regulations of the company.

Information on training, assessment and promotion within the business.

How to make a welcome plan in a company
Do you want to know how you should approach the development of your company's onboarding plan? Don't worry, although there is no general manual, below we recommend a series of steps with which to approach your own plan.

Gather all the necessary information . Basically, we are referring to the information that we have marked as an example in the previous point of this article.

Structure the information in a clear and intuitive way. Include an index, a general business information sheet, a list of business objectives… and everything you consider necessary so that the new employee can get oriented during his or her first days.
Provide the plan to the new employee . It is recommended that the employee have the plan in both physical and digital versions.
Consider making the onboarding plan not limited to the document itself, but also to other actions such as preparing the new employee's workplace, scheduling a guided tour of the facilities, a one-on-one meeting to establish the tasks of the first few days, and even (why not?) a small welcome gift.
