11 highlights from salesforce's winter '23 release that admins shouldn't ignore

Post by muskanislam25 »

Five months in advance, Salesforce fans in the northern hemisphere are beginning to feel the first cool breezes of winter. The Winter '23 Release Notes have been available since August 17.

As usual, we're bringing you a roundup of the highlights that we think are the most important things that administrators should try out in their Winter '23 sandboxes (available from the end of August) and production orgs. This selection is just a taster that we hope will encourage you to go for the main course. To help you digest all this easily, Salesforce has made the Release Highlights module available on Trailhead, where you'll find demos and community forums. You can also check out the #LearnMOAR page for new trailmixes.

During the first half of October, the first Winter '23 features should have arrived in your organization. Don't miss a thing and check the exact dates in the maintenance calendar.

Below are the improvements that our administrators have found to be most useful.

General improvements in Salesforce
1- Be prepared for automatic activation of multi-factor authentication .

Starting February 1, 2022, the requirement to use el salvador whatsapp lead multi-factor authentication (MFA) to access Salesforce products gradually went into effect. Whether you're logging in directly or using single sign-on (SSO), everyone will need to log in using MFA. In the first half of 2023, Salesforce will automatically enable MFA for direct logins. From the end of September, MFA will become a permanent part of the Salesforce login process. If you want to avoid impacts to your users, enable MFA as soon as possible, you can rely on the Multi-Factor Authentication Assistant:

Improvements in reports and dashboards
2- Review the structure of a custom report type during report creation .

This new feature allows you to view the structure of the available custom report types, allowing you to choose the one that best suits your needs. In addition, in the details panel you can see the relationships between the linked objects and the tooltip will show you an explanation of these links.

Lightning App Builder Improvements
3- Improve the registration pages for new objects supported with dynamic forms .

Dynamic forms will allow you to set up powerful pages for person, contact, and opportunity records. How can you achieve this? In the Lightning App Builder:

Open an account (a personal, contact, or opportunity account record page). Click the new Fields tab and place the fields anywhere on the page. You can also automate this process by migrating the Record Detail component by clicking the Dynamic Forms button.

4- Do more with dynamic related list filters

In the Lightning App Builder, you can now use multiple filter values when filtering dynamic related lists. Previously, you could only filter by one picklist value.

On the contact record page, you can filter a dynamic related list and display all cases with medium or high priority.

Improvement in permissions
5- Set security, at the field level, in permission sets instead of profiles, during field creation (Beta).

Now when creating a new object field, you can set field-level security (FLS). You can also do this when editing a field type and permission set instead of just in profiles. To enable this functionality:

Go to Settings, then User Management Settings and enable Field Level Security for permission sets during field creation (Beta).

Improve collaboration
6- Activate stronger protection for your users' personal information (Version Update).

This update was first available in Spring '22 and will now be applied in Winter '23. The new functionality replaces the Hide Personal Information setting. Thanks to it, you will prevent users' personal information from being accessed by external users (portal or community users). In addition, this feature called Personally Identifiable Information (PII), allows you to select which custom or standard fields in the user registration should be protected.

Improved general customization settings
7- Clone Lightning Apps (Beta) .

This is a nice feature that will save administrators a lot of time. Through the App Manager, you can create a custom Lightning app by making a copy of an existing one.

Improving sales productivity features
8- Track and organize all your tasks in the Work Queue.

Now through this component available across Salesforce, users can view all tasks assigned to them. With the Work Queue pinned to the Utility Bar, users can see, sort, and organize all of their tasks in one actionable view. Sales Engagement users can also view cadence tasks. By adding the Work Queue to the Utility Bar, users can apply labels to tasks and customize how they organize them.

You can select a task to view details, apply a label, or perform an action.

Improvements in Flow Builder
9- Cut and paste flow elements.

Cut and paste allows you to easily change the order of flow elements in the auto layout. This option didn't exist before, so you had to copy, paste the element, and delete the original. Also, you had to update the API name of the newly pasted element. Now, this is a seamless action in Flow Builder.
