The IDF value – the inverse document frequency

Post by tasmih1234 »

The second part of the WDF*IDF formula contains the IDF value, the inverse document frequency. The corresponding formula looks like this:

The IDF value is calculated by applying the logarithmic function of the number of documents in the collection divided by the number of documents in which the word occurs. The less frequently a word occurs in a collection of documents, the higher its IDF value and the more important it is considered to be for the meaning of the word in relation to the entire collection. This is calculated using the IDF formula shown above, i.e. IDFi = log2(1+ND7fi).

A word with a high IDF value is considered particularly relevant because it appears in only a few documents and therefore has a high value for answering a specific query.

For example , if the word “SEO” appears in only 10 documents out of a collection of 100,000 documents, then it will have a higher IDF score than a word like “Paid” which appears in 50,000 documents.

IDF is an important factor in the WDF*IDF method because it bosnia and herzegovina mobile numbers list determines the relative rarity of a word in a collection of documents and helps to evaluate the importance of a word within a given document. A word with a high WDF value (high frequency within a document) and a low IDF value (high frequency in a collection of documents) is considered less important than a word with a low WDF value and a high IDF value.

Conclusion
The WDF*IDF formula is a much better way to determine relevant keywords in texts and to weight them accordingly. All previous methods usually resulted in texts being manipulated in terms of their relevance using keyword spamming. The WDF IDF analysis solves this problem by combining two individual parameters.

The WDF IDF value is very popular today and has long been deeply integrated into the practice of SEOs and marketing managers. This term weighting method ultimately allows the relevance of your own website content to be calculated precisely and allows you to respond much better to the preferences of the search engine.
