What is a project? The term "project" has been overused in recent years. Some even jokingly refer to it as "projectitis" when companies simply turn every new task into a "project". But there is also the other extreme: companies that steadfastly refuse to see larger projects as projects. Both approaches are problematic.

Got it? No? - No wonder, because this definition is only partially suitable when it comes to distinguishing projects from other tasks in day-to-day business. Ultimately, it raises more questions than it answers. But the term project could also be described in a more tangible way, because there are five typical characteristics by which you can recognize a project.
