The study also indicates that users spontaneously know 3.9 social networks on average , which represents a very slight increase compared to the 3.7 networks in 2023.
Suggested knowledge
WhatsApp (96%) is proclaimed as the most popular social network in 2024. It is followed by Facebook and Instagram, both with 92% , although the difference is that this is the same result for the first as in 2023, while the second has increased its share by two percentage points. This suggests that, while Facebook stagnates in the minds of users, other networks are proliferating their presence there.
In fourth place is YouTube (89%) , a platform that achieved an excellent increase of six percentage points. And in fifth place we find TikTok, which went from being mentioned by 82% to being mentioned by 84% .
Along with YouTube, Pinterest is the one that has seen the austria number data biggest growth in terms of awareness. The image and inspiration platform has gone from 58% to 64% in 2024. Other social networks that have also improved their suggested awareness are LinkedIn (from 62% to 66%) and BeReal (from 13% to 17%), both growing four points each.
At the other end of the scale we find X , which despite remaining in sixth place is the only social network that experiences a decrease in suggested knowledge (going from 82% to 75%), something that may have been motivated by its change of name and icon.
On the other hand, in clear contrast to the spontaneous awareness ranking, when Spotify (72%) and Tinder (48%) are shown as social networks to identify, the percentage of respondents who recognize them is much higher. Something that has not happened with Threads, since Meta's new social network only obtains 16%.
Finally, as we might have expected, the number of social networks known by users increases when we talk about suggested knowledge . When given a list of options instead of having to search for them in their own mind, users know and recognise an average of 10.4 social networks , a figure that is higher than the previous year (9.9).
